The Vermont Government[1] is a republican form of Government. The Government of Vermont is divided into three branches the Executive branch, the Legislative branch and the Judiciary branch. The Governor is the head of the Executive Branch. The Legislative Branch of Vermont consists of the House of Representative and the State Senate. The Supreme Court of Vermont looks after all the judicial decisions of the state.

The Executive Branch of Vermont

The Executive Branch of Vermont consists of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, State Treasurer, Secretary of State and State Auditor. The Governor is the head of the Executive Branch. The Governor is responsible to create jobs, control skyrocketing health care costs, reduce recidivism, expand broadband and cell service to every corner of the state, rebuild roads and bridges and invest in quality education opportunities.

The Lieutenant Governor is the second highest elected official after the Governor. The Lieutenant Governor has three primary duties which are: Standing in for the Governor when the Governor is out of state, Presiding over the Senate and casting a tie-breaking vote in the Senate if necessary.

Legislative Branch of Vermont

The state legislature of Vermont is the Vermont General Assembly. It is a bicameral body comprising of the Vermont House of Representatives and the Vermont Senate that meet at the Vermont State House.

The Vermont House of Representatives[2] is the Lower house of Legislative Branch of Vermont. The House consists of 150 members. The Speaker of the house is the Presiding officer of the House.

The Vermont State Senate[3] is the upper house of the Legislative Branch of Vermont. The House consists of 30 Senators. The Lieutenant Governor is the President of the Senate and is the presiding officer of the senate.

The Judiciary branch of Vermont applies law and regulations and also ensures justice in the state. The Vermont Judiciary consists of Vermont Supreme court and Vermont Superior Courts.
